Your very own Luck Dragon, the Salt Marsh Moth. Hop onto its delightful mane and ride into a Neverending Story… In the second picture I believe that’s a clutch of eggs at the bottom. I didn’t really notice it when I shot this. I revisited it and will post a better picture of just that sometime in the coming days. Western Honeybee: I get a small thrill every time I see a honeybee at work. We have always known they are special animals with intelligence and skills beyond our understanding. Now that we are beginning to unravel the mysteries of their cognition, they fill me with even more amazement. Using their butt waggles to indicate the distance and direction of good food is shocking enough. Now we know they can give their hivemates more qualitative reports, wagging with some hesitation if they witnessed a dead bee at the food source. They are taking in and analyzing all their sensory information ann turning it into a mathematical report! These little furry fuckers for #InsectSaturday 🪲 Around 9 pm, it is as if someone shouts "RELEASE THE HOUNDS!" and dozens of June beetles descend from the skies and doodle through the garden like drunk assholes. They're everywhere, especially all over my head and body. I hate them with a passion now. I'm all for creepy-crawlies and love to watch them, but not in my personal space, please. The chickens, however, love them.
