#highschool. by pure luck of timing, my year was the first or second to be part of the substantial overhaul of nsw secondary
#education #syllabus & structure
most notably, ahead of us we had the School Certificate in 4th Form / Year 10 [the latter nomenclature also being part of the new paradigm], & the Higher School Certificate in Year 12. The hitherto Leaving Certificate became a historical artefact.
regarding the new syllabus, wrt
#science, for Years 7 - 10 we could choose 2unit Geology or Biology, plus 2unit
#Physics and
#Chemistry, or... 4unit Multistrand Science [Physics + Chemistry + Geology or Biology]. i chose 4uMS, with the G option [our class for which being small as most kids picked B]
as part of the new syllabus we had newly published textbooks, & all the science ones were beaut... many friendly sketches pictorialising many of the concepts & formulae, which were a breath of fresh air compared to the old style
in the P+C part of the strand, we were taught something that became a central tenet of all the following decades of my life... logical thinking n The Scientific Method. for this, we were introduced to the fabulous, eternal... Martin The Martian, with his All Cylindrical Objects Burn...

why this blather? i was ruminating some hours ago on the crap state of the world wrt abject shitfuckery from
#RWNJs with their patent stupidity & malice, with their legions of brain-dead acolytes & believers. martin popped into my head. were these delusional fools never taught about martin, or equivalent? did they never learn any concept of rational thinking? i, along with my generational cohort, was given a fine inoculation against all the subsequent bullshit & conspiracy lies... why did the wheels fall off for all these later morons?
