BEYOND SURVIVAL: IS THE WORLD WATCHING THE UNMAKING OF A PEOPLE? 💔🇵🇸 1000 days. I was planning to be a doctor. I used to imagine myself wearing a white coat, holding a stethoscope, walking through hospital corridors to heal wounds and soothe pain. In school, I studied hard to achieve this dream, not just for myself, but for my family and my country. 🕊️ Today, after 1000 days of war, my plans have changed. I am no longer learning how to heal wounds; I am learning how to survive amidst them. 😟 My school is now rubble: There are no more classrooms, no science labs. Instead, my "laboratory" today is the reality of death and destruction surrounding me. My friends, who were supposed to be my colleagues in medical school, are either gone, maimed, or have lost the ability to even dream. 💔 The hospital I dreamed of working in has become a theatre of pain: Instead of saving lives, I have seen how lives are snatched away in operating rooms lacking the most basic supplies. How can I study medicine while hospitals are bombed and doctors are targeted? 🩺🩸 Hunger and abandonment: At 16, I have learned lessons that aren't in any medical textbook.
