Saying "I'm not risking potentially scamming people by sharing direct aid posts" when the direct aid is for Palestinians is so coloniser-coded, and it's just generally fascist-coded. Palestinians are treated as a presumptively fraudulent population, solidarity with them is framed as a danger to others, withholding support is framed as responsible public protection.
Making a verified campaign for Palestinians on GoFundMe or Chuffed isn’t like verifying a Meta account or verifying ownership of your website on Google Search Console or Meta. Some people should get better at lying about their lack of conscience and unwillingness to use their brains.
If you’re broke, you can just say that, y’kno. Say that you’re broke and the only thing you can do is amplify campaigns. Or say that you’re overwhelmed by the Palestinians in your mentions and just need some time before you can re-engage.
Admitting limitations is more dignified than claiming you’re unwilling to amplify potential scammers when you have no proof that they are scammers. You’re just revealing to the public what you would do if you were in their position.
Do you really believe that suspicion sounds more respectable than admitting you don’t want to extend solidarity? Neither sounds respectable, btw. One just disguises complicity behind common sense, when that common sense is politically manufactured and socially reproduced. How is sounding like your state government more respectable, especially when you’re living in a settler-colonial state, the EU, or the UK, all of which carry colonial baggage?
Lie better. Cover your ass better. Those boots still need cleaning, and your tongue and thumbs have a lot of work to do.
