If its a password or a config, or anything that is runtime change-able, it is then kept alive by the onboard battery.
So cutting off ALL available power should hard reset the thing.
The only way around this is if Apple hard coded the lock/password/whatever on a silicon level.

I use this. Free tier cuz i only need the basic email functionality.
No bs thrown in your face, it simply works.
Doesnt ask for a phone or an address... It just is.
As for how google my flag its domain, ive had both positive and negative expiriences.
Sometimes it just works, sometimes it gets put in "spam", although given the track record id argue its most likely due to the way i type out my emails more so than domain restriction issues or such...

Yes, hardware compatibility is a huge issue. Not to mention prices.
Ill just mention my personal setup instead.
A non used 2018 oneplus phone, around 200 euros.
Has direct LineageOS support, and unlocking the bootloader is as simple as clicking 1 button in the settings.
Flashing LOS was also fairly easy with fastboot, then, magisk setup, aaand all the apps one might use on the daily. Fully de googled.
Solid hardware specs, has all the little features i enjoy, up to 1 terabyte external SD card support, NFC, standard earphone jack, etc.
As for apps, anything FOSS. From calendar, to clock to file manager...

With kernel level access, you can do literally anything.
Stock phones were always vulnerable, as they generally do not allow this kind of access to consumers.
Those with a tad more room to breathe at this point are those who go their hands on some slightly older hardware (pre 2020) that allows for bootloader unlock without any hassle.
Flash a custom ROM, use magisk to give yourself root access, set up your own security, etc.
Then you only need to practically worry about stuff you fetch from the internet.
Although, with root access and various isolation apps, a good firewall... Should be fine.
Or at the very least orders of magnitude better than remaining on your google powered stock device.
