@treibholz@mastodon.online I've seen a lot in 30y of Unix usage, but a 27k LOC shell script is new to me. Reminds me of the good old QBASIC times where the whole code was also in a single file.

Another fun day with #netcup :

"In order to ensure the continued stability of your system, it was urgently necessary to move your server XXXXXX to another host
system.

We have done this to protect your data and to ensure the regular operation of your server. The migration has just been completed with the
restart of your server.

We generally recommend removing snapshots if they are not needed. In general, this allows us to move your server live, so that no restart is
necessary. In exceptional cases, however, it may be necessary for us to perform a reboot nevertheless, then we will of course inform you
beforehand, as in this case.

Usually we also try to inform you about such a migration process with a necessary reboot in advance. Unfortunately, this was not possible in
the current case due to the urgency.

Thank you for your understanding."

Usually you get this advertisements if someone had fun on the machine with a guest-to-host exploit.

Any recommendations for a VPS hosting provider where I can run #OpenBSD? I already have two VMs at @OpenBSDAms@mastodon.bsd.cafe , so another one would be good :)

I wrote a small article on how to backup Unix servers using tar and age. Nothing fancy, just the script and concept I use for all my servers. https://xosc.org/backup-server.html #openbsd #freebsd #netbsd #linux

Wow, after 25 years of #Unix / #linux experience, I learned that you can filter output in #less.

Press ampersand (&) and enter a regex to show only lines matching the regex.

Press ampersand (&) and then exclamation mark (!) to apply an inverse filter.
