My home lab now has a couple of bits of what would otherwise be e-waste running web servers. There is a Pi 1 running Wireguard to connect to 44net, and an Android 10 phone with Tailscale and termux. nginx is the web server in both cases.

I have a couple of CM4 Pi 4 compute modules that are spare from a project and that never have been used.

Is there a list somewhere of fun budget-priced radio projects that can make use of such things? In particular I could imagine building an Allstar node around this component.

CHU the Canadian time signal station is shutting down. "As of June 22, 2026, the shortwave radio broadcast of the NRC's official time signal will no longer be available."

Send in a reception report for CHU 3330 (Canadian time signal) in the hopes of getting one last QSL card from them before Canada shuts down time services on shortwave.

My DMR radio hears just fine, but the best explanation for the high bit error rate on transmit Is some kind of frequency drift.

I'm running OpenGD77 on an RD-5R, with an #OpenSpot4 as the hotspot.

I can see two, maybe three ways forward.

1. On the RD-5R, "Freq Adjust" from the calibration screen.
2. On the OpenSpot4, "Autocal" as described by https://manuals.sharkrf.com/openspot4/en/autocal-connector.html
3. Why not both?

Of the two Autocal looks easiest, and it will get me the best diagnosis out of the box.

Is it still DX'ing if you use a KiwiSDR? (Sure it is) The local SE Michigan KiwiSDR, "misdr" or "Pembelton Farms", picked up 5000 watt WKZO 590 kHz Kalamazoo instead.

It's always entertaining to listen to the Blue Jays, you can tell in an instant as soon as there's a out ("oot").

Tuning through the AM dial tonight in Michigan and found an odd musical loop announcing that 1110 AM had moved to 107.9 FM. Turns it it's WBT-AM in Charlotte NC making the move to WBT-FM.

Starting to invite elected officials to save the date for this year's 2026 Field Day in June.

Usually I'd wait to do Field Day organizing work until after Hamvention, but since I'm missing it this year I'll fill in with early work.

If you invite electeds for Field Day, how many invites do you send, and who shows up? I know you just need one to get the points but it *is* an open house so the more the merrier.

@bud_t just checked in to #FFWN, I think / I hope, using "pat" and telnet on a Raspberry Pi 400 that's set up on my local Tailscale net I did buy an APRS K-1 cable that should in theory let me connect to a local 2 meter node but either I'm holding the cable wrong or it's misbehaving because it didn't work out of the box. so it went back into the box as "future project but not current project". I'll revisit that on the equinox or the solstice.

@ety@hive.institute The #homelab is the first tag I'd tune into, all sorts of people doing things with old gear that does double duty as space heaters in the winter. I have seen old telco gear repurposed as part of amateur radio voice-over-IP trunks, I would think that a search for a tag specific to the hardware you are using or interested in would work. @loriemerson@post.lurk.org any ideas? I'm not aware of any instance specifically devoted to either pursuit. #homelab #othernetworks #hamradio
