My mother would often use checks knowing they would take several days to clear and hoping she would have the money to cover it by then. Like if the kitchen was empty on Wednesday but she didn't get paid till Friday she would buy food on Wednesday hoping the check wouldn't clear till atleast Friday.

I want to say "make a calculator with add, subtract, multiple and divide in c99" and it does that. I don't want to have to write a "don't use Javascript, don't use c11, don't use ruby, don't use c#" let me give the positive case. Don't make me blacklist the negative cases.

I don't want gaurd rails to prevent me from driving off the road. I want a car that can drive, stay in its lane, maintain appropriate speed, etc. Like here is the written history of us law, find me a case similar to this case I'm arguing. Here is the documentation of the go language, write me a tcp/http server with these assets. I give a road, stay on it.

People claimed types were like gaurd rails "they don't allow me to use the wrong type by mistake" and his response was something like "I'm glad cause when I'm driving I just release the wheel and hope the gaurdrails are strong enough".

@ditsch42@troet.cafe don't know any specific opportunities but med device uses a lot of those things in manufacturing. Lasers, vacuum, controlled environment monitoring I've done all of that in med device as well as data analysis and tech writing although not published writing.

I heard things like airplanes crashing, missiles launching and stock market going crazy thinking 30 years of inflation disappear over night? Some of them sounded possible (stock market) and some sounded crazy (missiles launching thinking it was 1970 when they didn't launch in 1970)...

@JoBlakely@mastodon.social depends on qr code purpose and who made it. Like I had a bunch of accounts for different systems with mandatory 36 characters randomly generated passwords. I printed a book with all the usernames and passwords in qr codes. Yeah not best security but it was stored in a locked cabinet and no plain text. We also used qr codes for serial numbers as it was smaller and more reliable.
Now random qr codes stuck to a pole in town... No!

I say yeah I'm here to pick up a child, she follows up up with "what's the child's name?". I decideded to be a smart ass and said "eh, name doesn't matter, I'm not picky"... The look on her face!
