Rust News: Rust stdlib unsoundness found… by AI 🦀
The Rust Foundation has been using Claude Mythos (from Anthropic) to audit the standard library, and it’s already turning up issues.
Some lower-severity bugs are now public:
- Potential out-of-bounds write in CString::clone_into() on allocation failure
- Heap overflow in slice::join() with certain pathological Borrow implementations
More serious findings are still under embargo.
