Also there’s no rate limit… 🤡 - well, seriously, this should be the first thing to try when being bored. Also, I feel slightly tempted to bodge a second power line modem into my cars charge port - for when I’m bored while topping up the battery… or maybe my car uses the Ethernet interface of these popular chipsets? Then maybe splice in an Ethernet switch?

Haha. CCS2 electrical vehicle chargers communicate by running powerline commnication (yes, a full IP networking stack) over the wires plugged in your vehicle. From Wikipedia: LTO10 has 1337m length and 12.65mm width, and can store 40TB, hence 40e12 / (1337e3 * 12.65) = 2.4Mbyte/mm². There's obviously some space for improvement (by a factor of 5000) :).

@mntmn@mastodon.social if I'd have to guess, I'd start with the end of modem technology in the days... which got us 33.6kBit using a 8bit DAC/ADC (telephone) at 3kHz bandwidth. Cassettes have wow and flutter (tape speed variations), but probably a few bits more dynamic range, let's say this cancels out. Frequency went up to 15kHz or so, so 5 times as much. So, my guess would be that about 175kbit/s would be a reasonable estimate.

But if focused at the right spot, much higher doses might heal cancer (or a limited amount of „benign“ other cases). No need to always mention the bad aspects :). Also, for technical purposes you might use orders of magnitude higher doses, administered much more intense e.g. in industrial sterilization or when making heat-shrink tubing. Which is even more impressive.

Wir sehen drei Elemente:

ein Fenster (Piktogramm als outline)
ein Sitz (Piktogramm als outline)

Offensichtlich ist mit 14 und 13 nicht das als outline dargestellte Fenster gemeint, und damit ist der ausgefüllte Sitz die jeweils der Nummer zugewiesene Position.

@hennichodernich @tubetime they were very, very common in 60s/70s/80s Nuclear Physics instrumentation, most notably "NIM Crates", where you could check the +/- 6V, 12V, 24V supply voltages. These instrumentation crates were "high density" (for the time) and often lacked built in meters. For example you had 12 HV supplies in 19" width, with 1V/1000V and 1V/1mA monitoring outputs. You just shoved a multimeter probe in the socket and turned the knobs looking at your handheld meter...

Wenn die Schlammlawine oder das Hochwasser auf mich zurollt interessiere ich mich bestimmt dafür, ob die Warnung nun MITTEL oder LEICHT ist, und von der Senatsverwaltung oder der Bußgeldstelle...

@VQuaschning@mastodon.green Wenn man für ein "durchschnittliches" PV Modul 500Wpk (peak) ansetzt, dann haben 5 Module 2.5kWpk und überschlagsmäßig bekommt man pro kWpk im Jahr 1000 kWh Energie raus. Damit kommt das schon circa hin: 2452 kWh für's Auto, 2500 kWh für die Solarpanels. Ich wollte es nur einmal grob nachrechnen, weil der Unterschied ÖL/PV schon extrem erscheint. @tante@tldr.nettime.org was er, der fleißig übt das Trump Playbook zu spielen, wohl machen wird wenn er feststellt, dass er in einer Koalition in der er landen wird nicht wie Trump einfach Dekrete unterscheiden kann wird… interessant. Rumschreien, und gegen Abweichler vom Volkswillen hetzen ist das eine, aber Kompromisse schmiedet man so nicht, und ich glaube er kann es auch nicht. Ich gönne ihm jedes blaue Auge das er sich holt, und bedauere dennoch dass eine AfD dies als Schwäche der Demokratie umdeuten wird.
