reading again through mary oliver's dream work in anticipation of the upcoming american masters (pbs) episode about her life
race day is here! I wish I had trained more!
they're doing a 40th anniversary theatrical re-release of transformers the movie (1986) to retraumatize us in 4k, don't fall for it (I'll probably go though)
I watched an interview that classicist tom holland did of actor tom holland about the new odyssey movie and classicist tom holland made a good point about non-classicist chris nolan portraying certain scenes more fantastically to convey the mythological aspects of the story. I like that view so I feel ready to watch it now. it's still very hard for me to see matt damon as odysseus, very hard. but ok, matt, let's see what you've done
happy 525 to all who celebrate
heck yeah he's getting cauldrowned
where is the horse and the rider?
where is the horn that was blowing?
this next one's got john rhys davies AND the intro is like an 80s british murder mystery show
took nap during that 😴
google changed all their web icons and now i can't find anything in my tabs but the important thing is some exec hit their KPIs
tom holland as telemachus
robert pattinson as antinous
charlize theron as calypso
these are good
matt damon as odysseus, what, no
you know who would kill that role is david tennant, also possibly michael sheen or richard armitage
a week ago we bought an EV and now we're trying to figure out how much money in gas it will save but yikes
charging at home is free unless we use more than the solar produces, which is hard to predict. last year we had a small amount due so I would expect that to get a bit bigger
charging station prices are wild, like 25 cents per KWh at one place and 60 cents at another
and finding the charging stations is a weird little adventure. I have three new apps installed and I hate that
for mothers day we had dinner at my parents' house a day early and watched Uncharted for some reason. my mom gave me a poem she wrote that's in an upcoming anthology (it's good)
this morning i made smitten kitchen french toast with whipped cream and fruit jelly. super good. ive lapsed into being a mediocre cook but the recipe covers me
I still have some things to do yet but first I need to drowse off this meal
10yo wants to buy a 24 inch curved computer monitor to play the switch 2 on
remembering how I used to use my TI-99/4a monitor to watch movies from a VCR I got from goodwill
my dad loved the concert! I liked the intro piece, Carnival Overture by Dvorak. my mom revealed her favorite song is The Weight by The Band, which they did not perform haha. (that would have been amazing)
12yo told me the concert was "good" but that's all I could get. she is tweenagering very hard rn and finds her dad Very Annoying
at the santa cruz symphony with my parents and 12yo. due to not paying attention i just learned theyre playing a piece by jaron lanier before beethoven and that he lives in santa cruz now!
I didn't actually know palookaville was so short lived. we just aggressively attended mostly local ska and punk shows there in 1994 and 1995
sublime wasn't all that well known in the mainstream when I saw them but it was packed anyway, they were like heroes to us and bradley was the lord of heroes
we saw slow gherkin the most of all. they were amazing and loud and energetic
I was at this show
14yo got her name in the paper again for winning one of her events at wednesday's swim meet 🏊♀️🏆
I will do any number of things to stop hearing eric claptop
*squinting* god put a gift in his butt ?
what in the shit is happening now
I dont understand why eric clapton wrote the worst main theme ever for this it's like three notes and a synth. totally phoned it in
frances sternhagen is *chefs kiss* for this role
if this alien rides the bike I will lose my mind
