After reading the essay about boring tech (https://terrygodier.com/the-boring-internet) by @tg@indieweb.social, I’ve been wondering about the DMA and other regulatory things. The chat control, the platform regulation, the age verification, all of it, requires that a central authority checks an ID, reads your content, etc. And you know what has no central authorities? The boring tech that is simply specs, protocols, etc.
Most of the loud arguments about tech and privacy vanish when you move to boring tech.

Its actually easier to open old Sketch files in Figma than it is to convert them into modern Sketch files so i can open them in Sketch. Its as if the people at Sketch wants me to use Figma…

@diabhoil Ok, I get it, and I dislike it too, but what you’re saying is similar to saying: “the truck that brings my food to the store uses diesel, I’m going to grow my own food now and hope I don’t starve.”
Here are some things we could do:
- Educate our politicians on technology.
- Voice our disagreement with companies using US-owned infrastructure.
- Find and promote viable alternatives and be willing to pay extra.
