I like computer related stuff (as long as it respects the user), old technology, radio, infrastrucuture, bicycles, trains, quiet places and generally being curious about things.

Why do people make their cars and motorbikes louder than they absolutely have to be? Its so horrible to be subjected to it
I want cosy tech that feels tangible and brings back the joy of tinkering and experimentation. I know it exists still if you look hard enough and I'm just leaning into nostalgia of my distant past when life and more of the tech was simpler at the moment.
It would be nice to just have the energy to play and have fun with it all again :blobcat_pensive2:
Also, not having to have a rectangle of doom for stuff would be nice.
I see folks posting about #privacy quite a lot. 'I use [x] and do [y] to stop advertisers from getting my data', that sort of thing. That's great, I do the same! However, I have a lifetime of experimenting with computers to fall back on, the privilege of having enough time to do it and of course the interest to do it too. I'm sure at least some of that applies to people writing these messages as well.
Unfortunately most people do not have these skills, the time or the resources to do this. Yes we can help, but ultimately it's an uphill battle against something that is now firmly entrenched into our societies.
Everyone deserves respect, #privacy and agency over the technology they use. Not just a select few.
This problem is only going to start to be fixed by regulation and the business models these tech companies work with substantively changing.

Current me thanks past me for a buying an electric heat pad last year.
I was feeling cold and now feeling less cold with that on.
I've been wanting to find a replacement application for opening Keepass files for a while now and came across https://apps.gnome.org/en-GB/Secrets/ on the #gnome Circle website.
Have just installed it and it's lovely little piece of software. Easy to use and supports all the features I want :blobcat_smiley:
From a walk last weekend. Made me smile
Why do people modify their cars and motorbikes to sound louder than they absolutely have to be? They don't sound good, they just sound like a farting POS!
For those of us that have issues dealing with and processing sound, especially when it's loud, having one of these farting POS's scream past (usually badly driven and at an unsuitable speed of course), is really distressing.
I just want to be able to walk and cycle places without becoming a stressed out overwhelmed mess 😢 Even with NC headphones or earplugs it can be bad a times.
Such a stupid and unnecessary modification to make to a vehicle. Why do it? 🙄

Feeling in the mood for this tonight
