@grim_fandango@mas.to vhs supports captions as a standard feature (i feel like pal countries got screwed on videotape!) so that should be easier, yes... idk if the same can be said about fancier stuff like text mode, but those were so rare i never actually saw them in use
despite being easily display ntsc captions on a crt, capturing them into a pc and subsequently playing them back has been a royal pain so far...

@The_T@glaceon.social @tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems slightly related, but that does remind me of how a friend gets confused on how mail from quebec to ontario is so much faster that from manitoba or alberta. i had to explain how it's really far, difficult to travel through, and that in general the ontario-manitoba border is kind of a bottleneck for the whole country
upon further reflection it feels like a damn miracle how canada post gets stuff here from montreal within a few days and from calgary in under 2 weeks!

@tendstofortytwo@social.treehouse.systems yeah... and that's what i meant. if we myopically focus on trans rights, then even if we succeed completely, if it's just comfortable to be trans while throwing immigrants, or indigenous people (and the many others i'm forgetting) then that's no good, there will still be misery, for trans and cis people alike...
i look forward to that. and seeing you again one day. and i'd also like to have a little car chat some time!
