I have a few small FOSS apps up on Github, which I wonder if they are actually used. Every time I need to do some maintenance on those, like framework or package upgrades, I'm wondering if I should bother. Is anyone actually using this?
I'm always tempted to add some usage tracker into it then. A simple HTTP call would do. But then I think naaah, that's kinda creepy no?
So I don't. But I wonder how others handle this. You don't care? Do it some other way?

@3mind @AmyZenunim But how are they going to measure that efficiency gain? I have my doubts LLMs are actually speeding things up. You still have to double-check and review everything it spits out, which takes time. If you don't, you'll end up with mistakes you'll have to clean up later. So there goes your efficiency.
For some jobs it's just faster if you don't use it at all.

@AmyZenunim I don't think they can see what you're using Claude for, just how many tokens you've spent.
So if you just do what you used to do, and have Claude come up with some original recipes for pies in the meanwhile, they probably will never know. 😁

@yonder Wordpress generates these automatically as well btw. When you pick any WP post, you'll see the "og:*" tags that are used to generate social media cards.

@yonder I think OG meta tags are an easier way to do this.
You basically add meta tags in your HTML code with the description, preview image, etc, and most sites will pick it up. It's a standard. News sites use it all the time for their articles so they show up correctly on social media.

That way, you can get/query it externally like any other file.
The JSON can't be dynamic, but since it's a static site, I guess that isn't really necessary.
