@alice@lgbtqia.space One day, you won't be able to pay for your groceries because you don't have a smartphone that uses AI to solve the captchas at the checkout terminal and the AI teller won't accept your wrinkly cash. And then you'll walk out of the store with your stolen groceries but the door won't open until someone else walks out because 'smart'. And then you won't have paid for your food and nobody will be after you because they'd try to punish you by locking you out of their discount program instead. And then you'll be a thief and you'll feel really bad because of that only because you didn't buy smart devices. At least that's what I expect to happen to me 😅 And after feeling bad there's free food.

Believe me or not, I can also understand why exactly that may inspire someone to speak/write that way. Yet, I'm still holding on to the point I made, because I find these comparisons wrong and I may never have been as close to H as you say you've been, but I've experienced enough shit to make a statement out of experience. However, if you want I'll remove my comment to not put you in a bad spot. I still oppose to this but I wouldn't find it justified to leave it up. Just let me know, a word's enough

@danirabbit I am really bothered by the LLM hype but also by this post. It makes me angry when someone uses drug addiction (and its implicit shaming) to make a point. Drug addiction is a real thing with real consequences with real people involved and not just some horror story that teachers tell to keep you off the weed. There are people out there making strong and valid points about and against the LLM hype. Why not boost them instead? This kind of post instead is what I'd expect from an LLM that was told to write a viral post. @Frohmann

@Underfaker Die anderen Kommentare lesen sich nicht wie sofortige Ablehnung. Konstruktive Kritik würde aussehen wie: "Hey, ich wüsste noch einige Programme/Services in Bereichen die noch nicht so gut abgedeckt sind: z.B. Qobuz bei Streaming, das ist ziemlich verbreiteg unter..." Oder man macht keine konstruktive Kritik. Aber warum sollte man einfach unter den kostenlosen Projekten von anderen Leuten rummosern? Sowas würde nun wirklich auf sofortige Ablehnung stoßen, oder nicht? @kuketzblog

Das ist wie die scheißige Variante eines Geburtstagsgeschenks zum Geburtstag. Und so wie man traurig sein darf, wenns dann doch kein Geschenk gibt, so kann man sich auch empören wenn Leute mit der Flagge eines Regimes auf die 1. Mai Demo kommen, das seine linken Revolutionsmitstreiter*innen gefoltert und ermordet hat.

Also was oben steht: "»Effizienz« wird mit KI als Sparprogramm verkauft". Tatsächlich werden halt kurzfristige Einsparungen zur Legitimation verwendet und langfristige Kosten und Folgen nicht (richtig) in Betracht gezogen. Aber vielleicht ordne ich den Satz "Das ist zunehmend nicht mehr der Fall" auch falsch zu. Der kann sich ja auf beide oder auf eine der beiden Aussagen beziehen, dass der Kostenanteil früher gering gewesen sei oder dass früher niemand IT verstanden hat. Ich kann das mit den Kosten früher und heute nicht beurteilen, es überrascht mich aber ein bisschen, also besonders wenn man über Personalkosten spricht. Und beim Verständnis von IT bin ich mir auch nicht sicher... Ist das wirklich größer als vor z.B. 20 Jahren? Oder kauft man halt irgendein LLM-Produkt ein statt bzw. zusätzlich zu SAP weil das halt alle so machen. Damit will ich nicht sagen, dass es für beides keine guten Gründe geben kann - aber die sind halt oft nicht die Entscheidungsgrundlage.

@batterpunts Reminds me of the joke where an engineer, a physicist and a mathematician are each locked into a room with some chalk, a can of food and a bed. After a week, the engineer left some calculations and schematics on the wall, then built a somewhat reliable can opener from parts of the bed. The physicist scribbled all over the wall, gave up the chase, took a sturdy part of the bed and smashed the can open. The mathematician is the only one who didn't survive. There is one marking on the wall: "Imagine, the can is open." (remotely remembered and roughly translated from German)

@nixCraft Install an iris just a few nanometers away from the #ssh login attempt event horizon. Authorized login attempts must send an encrypted code over radio before the iris is opened. Be aware that Sokar can try to burn your iris away so make sure to have a watchdog process dial out before Sokar can dial in again and keep the connection open for as long as possible so the iris can cool down. Make sure there are no unattended and unburied SSH processes listening elsewhere and you'll be fine. No SSH keys needed unless you're dealing with "less primitive" peoples that can just walk through.

Die kamen ja schon mit diesem iTunes Lock-In um die Ecke, da hab ich auf dem Schulhof noch CDs getauscht *schwelg* Also natürlich ist das ein unglaublich tolles Gerät und gejailbreaked und je nach Geschmack auch klasse mit Rockbox. Aber der iPod war schon eher einer der Vorreiter der Verrenkungen des Alltags, die heute normal sind. Ich hätt mir damals keinen leisten können aber ich glaub geschenkt hätt ich ihn wieder verkauft und mir nen Minidisc Player geholt :)
