@quixoticgeek@social.v.st It's one of those law vs reality things. In the UK there is no 'registered disabled' other than for blind people. But you're only disabled under the Equality Act if your impairment is likely to last at least 12 months, so your ankle injury wouldn't qualify.

Note for non-cyclists: Since no right-minded cyclist would waste decent cycling weather doing Gardening, the stereotypical "cyclists lawn" is one that only gets cut when it inhibits bicycle access to the shed.

I heat to 21°C for comfort, but infrequently used rooms run a lot colder, and everything cools down overnight. My computer informs me that our indoor temperature has averaged 18.2°C since the start of the month (that's hourly samples with equal weighting of all the rooms, which is flawed, but a useful indication).
I suspect the Swedes do a better job of maintaining a steady temperature rather than getting home in the evening and throwing huge amounts of energy at a cold house.

@th@social.v.st @futurebird@sauropods.win Trick is to have your cycle security spidey sense calibrated for London (or presumably NYC) and then move to somewhere less bike-thief-infested. Your half-arsed locking will be at least twice as good as all the other bikes in the rack, and the best deterrent is an easier to steal bike.
Riding something weird / uncool can help to some extent, but it's not going to so much if theives are willing to strip it for parts.
Sometimes the only cycle security I trust is using my Brompton and keeping it with me.

@oivaeskola@toot.community IANA topologist, but I did actually do this to someone who'd got in a muddle with armfuls of bags and locks and managed to fail to lock her bike to the stand. I figured that being patronised by a random stranger was better than having your bike stolen.
