Seeing quite a few smug posts about solar not being constrained by the current conflict around the strait of Hormuz. And while it's certainly the case if you already have your solar panels you don't have to worry about sun interruption (short of another Krakatoa 1883 scale volcanic event). If you don't yet have your solar panels, are you aware of the Strait of Malacca? It's a 900km Strait between the Malay peninsula and Indonesia. And it's the main route for ships from china to Europe.

That is the best interview experience I've ever had. It's a sunny day so the interviewer suggested we go for a walk. So we spent half hour outside walking around the area doing the interview as we talk.

And as an autistic geek. This was fantastic. Not having to sit in a room making uncomfortable eye contact with a stranger in hope they will employ you at the end of it. Perfect.

It's international women's day. Lots of articles and toots are being posted about women in various industries, sports etc...

An unfortunately far too common phrasing will be to use the word "females" instead of women, or girls, or women and girls. Now there's a strong grammatical argument that says female is an adjective and should only be used as such. "Female engineer" "female president" "female assassin". But this hides a much darker historical reason why we shouldn't use "females"

Do you know what one of the biggest seasonal culture shock was here in the Netherlands Vs back in the UK.

Public transport is working today.

The UK tends to shut down all public transport sometime on Christmas eve and not restart it until early on the 27th. Cos noone needs to use public transport on Christmas day, nope. Meaning if you don't have a car, you better make sure you're where you need to be by Christmas eve evening, or your not going anywhere

But here. Trains, trams, buses, metro...
