@simonbs@mastodon.social my new app has been in review for 3+ days. My new apps usually get rejected (for valid reasons) or accepted much quicker than that. Either my app is strange/difficult (seems pretty vanilla to me), Apple has some sort of backlog/blockage at the moment (likely), or Apple is messing with us (you have to think very unlikely).

@kyle@mister.computer @simonbs@mastodon.social it definitely ebbs and flows when new os updates land (i.e. based on volume). And maybe they have automated tools that can automatically parse native apps? Heck, it’s probably random.

@simonbs@mastodon.social I wonder if apple has an app review response time heuristic. Simple updates to my existing apps are often both responded to and accepted within 48 hours. New apps, or complex changes to existing apps, often seem to require a slightly longer wait before I receive the in review notification. This all could be in my head. Updates to existing apps are already running in testflight so I don’t really feel any delay.

@sarahjamielewis@mastodon.social this is an interesting take but perhaps a little blunt? Routing around censorship, or in other words preventing censors from knowing what people are doing, is a form of privacy. The trade off is trusting the vpn provider.

@b0rk@social.jvns.ca perfectly logical - you are commodifying your complements. Unless you derive joy from hosting yourself it makes perfect sense to spend your time elsewhere. As long as your stack allows you to easily move to at least two other independent providers.

@iris_meredith@mastodon.social It’s an interesting dynamic because fireworks were not approved by modern society - gunpowder is 9th (?) century technology. They were banned. It’s all about societal tolerance for (mostly) accidental harm. I loved setting off fireworks as a young kid. Then the (Australian) Government banned using fireworks without a permit - other than cracker night in the Northern Territory - because the fun wasn’t worth the injuries and property damage. Annoying but I see the logic. Different countries and different cultures treat this trade off differently.

@Geri@mastodon.online eh, I don’t want to start an argument, but it was a bit more complex than that? Also, the question wasn’t what made the country surrender, it was what turned it into a democracy. Either way I recognise that my bow is long.
