#Toot has transitioned from an unfinished project to something that's actually useful.
Here's a list of improvements:
⁃ Compose posts (not just replies), CWs, visibility picker, delete posts
⁃ Follow/mute/block, hashtag following, tabbed search w/ trending tags
⁃ Notification filters + inline follow requests
⁃ Favorites, Bookmarks & Lists now fully working
⁃ Theme picker, feed density options, hide boosts/replies
⁃ Multi-account support
⁃ Instant-load cache for timelines, notifications, and images
⁃ Full-size media viewer, tons of bug fixes & polish
I’ll continue working on it, hope to publish soon to #Flathub!

@soller@floss.social Do it, Forgejo is amazing and super easy to set up, I have my own private instance and it’s super refreshing not having to deal with corpo/AI crap.

@isaac@hachyderm.io This is perfect for me, but unfortunately, it’s not remote. :(

I became a software engineer because, as a child, I had unrestricted access to computers. I could install and reinstall any operating system I desired as many times as I wanted.
That freedom to experiment, to break things and fix them again, is what taught me how computers actually work. No classroom, no tutorial, and certainly no age-gated platform could have replicated that. These laws wouldn't have protected me. They would have taken that away from me.
Protecting children and limiting their potential are not the same thing.

@fell @COSMIC_desktop If you reduce the width of the screen you’ll find that they have made their designs responsive.

@BrodieOnLinux@mstdn.social My main motivation to create this was my discomfort with Mastodon on web, hopefully it serves as a good replacement for it.

@jeremie@fosstodon.org Hopefully yes, if COSMIC comes to mobile at some point, then we're surely getting kinetic scrolling.

@eberhardt@mastodon.social Relm4 helped make it more manageable by introducing Elm architecture on top, but even with that, all the caveats #GTK has were hard to deal with.
#COSMIC was written in Rust, writing apps for it feels natural, the API is friendly and easy, there are some areas were it can improve of course, but that's going to happen as it evolves.
