i think people need to understand that technology and culture are so deeply intertwined and you cannot just expect to change one without the other.
When we look at the internet protocols as they spawned, there was a focus on convergence, cooperation, integration, progress, etc, largely born out of the college and lab spaces that they originated from and the culture of the time.
If that same moment were to be happening today, we would have tons of companies trying to push their own bespoke stacks at the lowest of levels. And to an extent we do still see companies do it, and its why all modern “standards” are a mess for all but massive teams in the corporatocracy
