Does anyone have a recommendation for a place I could purchase Ren-Faire-worthy, knee-high, lace-up, brown leather boots with no garish brandings or visible modern-features in the Portland / Salem /Eugene Oregon area? I need to be able to try before buying. I've had bad luck ordering shoes online, and all the shoe stores I see around the area are purely modern stuff. Saw the crows were around, so I stepped outside in my "problematic" hat (the one I saved the garter snake wearing), and set some peanuts out while doing the low click I've been establishing as a cue. Walked away.

Took a few seconds, but one of the crows popped up to the top of the nesting tree and looked at me. I had to walk back to the peanuts, raise one to show it, then set it down and walk away again while clicking.

It immediately flew down and accepted its offering.

Progress.

I think the pair of crows has forgiven me for rescuing the garter snake yesterday.

One crow was outside foraging, so I went outside, crouched down, and clicked at it.

It flew up to my roof to watch, and I scattered a handful of Cheez-its.

It didn't want to come down, so I went inside, staying visible through the door, and the crow flew right down and grabbed most of the Cheez-its. Its partner joined in as it took what it gathered across the way to a puddle for dunking.

Things seem okay.

This felt like a video game choice.

A couple neighbor crows were harassing a garter snake in the grass behind my house. I moved it to the front, hopefully where it'll find a nice place to hide.

Did I just anger the crows? Will they resent me now? Do I owe peanuts as penance?

Between Team Crow and Team Snake, it's kinda hard, but I didn't want to see the snake die.

Recently started rewatching Stargate Universe with @RandyMongenel@bitbang.social. It was such a great show. So, so good. I am instantly straight back into it.

I will *never* forgive the idiotic execs at "SyFy" for cancelling it and Caprica.

Fresh off a week-long project to paint one of the rooms in my house and install crown molding, and on to the next project, which is installing these border stones to section off my flowerbeds from the rest of the lawn.

It's so much easier to get exercise when it's accomplishing something.

I detest that I now have to question every funny image I see on the Internet with, "Wait, is this AI slop?"

And often it is, which instantly flips the light and funny vibes over into frustration and rage.
