Sat in A&E at 2am because i'm a neurosurgical marvel, think i'll pass the time doind a new #introduction I'm Harry (m46, he/him, omni). I live in the middle of the UK with @woolworrier@retro.pizza and a selection of children. I've been a games developer, server programmer, web apps, mapping software, and simulation. I'm currently a broadcast audio programmer. For fun I do the normal selection - 3d printing, woodworking, electronics, I play guitar and bass, fix guitars, amps and effects units. Any skill issues I have are mitigated by enthusiasm and pretty fast healing from minor burns. I listen to mainly Rock and Metal, and the bits of Electronica and EDM that take my fancy. As of last Tuesday i'm officially Autistic and ADHD. I'm having a lot of feelings. I'm progressive and hard left. Trans rights are human rights. Nobody accidentally gets a swastika tattoo. Try documenting a request to your immediate superior saying how it's a problem, then if they don't fight for you cc their boss in and repeat. I've been told that a sense of justice as strong as I have and a willingness to damage companies that fuck with me may be one of my most endearing autism indicators.

@DarcMoughty@infosec.exchange The company i work for burns the meeting schedule twice a year and frowns upon anything over an hour, and anything daily. Most of our management are coding on live projects too so it frees them up to suppport the people and teams that need it. Recommend the slash and butn to your bosses as a free productivity booster and money saver. Any middle manager reinstating huge meeting blocks is obvious and can be dropped down a stairwell

What it suffers from is lack of proper driver support. I have piles of line 6 gear (that was abaondoned on mac before windows, ironically) and i can use it all as sources under linux even via usb, but i can't control or edit the devices from linux and that's the pain for me. I've had mac hardware and made music on it myself, granted 2013 era, but the mac experience always felt like you had to believe it was good before it felt good, i just hit pain point after pain point. I've been a linux everyday driver since just after that because, some driver lack aside, i have had a more fluent experience as a user, programmer and hobbyist musician. TLDR i may be an outlier but i've never considered apple the best place to go for anything. My audio experience hasn't been flawless on linux but the macos one was conaiderably worse.

Sometimes it's terrible websites from the 90s, sometimes it's information about what happened before '74 with iran and why it makes the Tango Furher look bad. @davidgerard@circumstances.run Microsoft don't realise how bad their experience truely is when compared to linux. They need to ship with drivers built in and decent software options from the get go, and they can't and won't. I can rebuild my daily runner from bare drives and a usb key in under an hour. Never ever have i been able to do that with Windows.

It's a Booker Prize winner, so I think we can say I don't get Literature.

It's effectively a Slice Of Life novella over a time period too small for anything of note to happen. They observe a typhoon building, someone gets news, someone has a worry, but there is not time for any of this to develop in any meaningful way.

It has a pretty poetic cant to it, which goes some way to hide a lot of the time the author is listing things they have researched about the ISS but has literally no time to explore.

Not for me. I think the conceit would have been handled better by a genre fiction author.

Centerism is a lovely idea that is dependent on (traditionally) the far right not already being at the point of extra judicial killing before they say anything.
