Hated Louis Theroux's #manosphere. He did not explore or explain why these ideas are wrong and harmful, he just glamourised and legitimised these influencers, boosting their views on social media and broadening their reach by putting them on netflix. Whatever your views before watching, the "documentary" would only solidify them after. What a missed opportunity.
I've been learning more about history recently and it has occurred to me how many of these admired mighty emperors or warriors were teenagers doing teenage things. Makes me thankful we have some good systems in place these days to prevent teenage things from having such a harmful impact, with the exception of when people continue to act like teenagers well into their olden age.
After more than 10 years of doing all my (non-work) business on an android phone, chromebook or tablet I'm taking over the family computer for my own and installing Linux Mint. I'm very excited about having a file system again. #linuxmint #linux

Just measured the speed of light witha bar of chocolate and our microwave and I can tell you it's about 451 million metres per second.
This is the first book I've managed to finish since the end of last summer and I definitely recommend it.
I found it validating in the way it connects concrete personal experiences to wider patterns of unfairness. I also thoroughly enjoyed the writing and the unexpected but apt metaphors ("The pavement was trying to punch its way through my legs to my heart" - that's how I feel about running too).
It's infuriating that people who
1. are protected and accompanied by some of the most highly trained personal security
2. have access to reams of classified information collected through extensive spying networks,
3. whose job it is to be highly informed and good at sussing people out
can claim they had no idea their dear friend trafficked children and women right under their noses for years. Even if true (unlikely), it should not be an acceptable defence from high-ranking public servants.
