When you deliberately push people to the breaking point, you don't get to complain when they break. How long are people supposed to wait for the abuse and oppression to end? When are they allowed to fight back? I don't think that the abusers and oppressors get to make that decision.
It's Newton's third law of motion: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
In other words, the find out stage has commenced.

I'm sorry that happened to you. It's inexcusable. I will never understand what is wrong with these people and how their brains work.
When I was a child getting free lunch meant that you were embarrassed in front of your peers. We had to go up and say to the lunch lady "I get free lunch" . Everybody heard it. Everybody knew. Children should not be shamed. It just shouldn't happen.
