If I call stux a wanker he can press a button and all the folk on his server can no longer follow me, if he's got 2000 users fine whatever but his server is Big and it should Never have been allowed to get this Big, I should not have been allowed to do the silly thing I did which was joining one of his servers (I'd call gargron a wanker too but he already knows)

Seriously, seriously-seriously, why does activitypub software not default to having a maximum number of users per server. It's legit to not have seen this coming but this absolutely needs to be a thing going forward

Alright fedi, last time I moved I had to leave my old account open 'cause I've got a bunch of old threads that keep getting updates and there wasn't a way to move your posts, still isn't on Mastodon 'cause if there were then .social would be easier to move off, Fedi ppl please tell me if there's a different engine that I can import my posts to on a different server

@katalyst@infosec.exchange 17 years' PHP experience here. It's a mess, but it's *our* mess. Recommend, after you've got the syntax basics down, just write up some quick little stats-based browser game. It's fun to do and hell, it might get Unexpectedly Popular.

#FediTips whenever I see a post from a newbie from a very specific subculture going "where are all the gerbil enthusiasts, I can't find my people, I miss them :(" I boost it to help them find their people, and if my feed is any indication most folk on here do the same

Be specific in the sort of folk you wanna find, and use hashtags too, we will absolutely spread your longing around until it serendipities its way over to your people
