@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange Yup, worked for me. The only thing I miss is Notepad++, but KWrite is a good enough replacement. It fortunately also worked for my wife. Even on Windows, she already used LibreOffice, Audacity and MuseScore. The only last-minute change was swapping Chrome for Firefox, but thet went pretty smoothly too. So now we are a completely Windows-free household. 😄

@hnapel@mastodon.social @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange What games do you play? Is any of them broken on Linux if you check ProtonDB? Nvidia for the most parts works fine already on Linux. (I run Pop OS with RTX 2070 Super and I've had no problems so far.)

@mig@mastodon.1984.cz Na druhou stranu zase takhle: Teď je to hype jak sviňa. Až ta bublina praskne a bude potřeba za LLMs platit reálnou tržní cenu (teď je o několik řádů nižší, protože to je dotovaný), tak silně pochybuju, že se to někomu vyplatí. Možná leda lokálně, až spadnou ceny GPU.

(Manželka byla navíc po přechodu na Linux hodně překvapená, že si ji to samo na síti najde a není potřeba složitě instalovat ovladače. Na widlích to byl vždycky hroznej porod rozjet. 😄) Samsung už ale nový nevyrábí, prodali to HP. 🫤

@hongminhee For simple prototypes or small projects, where transpilation would be an unnecessary hassle (think single HTML file and JS with no or minimal dependencies), yeah. But for anything larger, TypeScript is the way to go. I cannot imagine maintaining a large project in pure JS.
