insects and spiders Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
I'm camping in the Kimberley (far north of Western Australia) and there's a lot of moths and other insects flying around every light. The shower block has a number of resident spiders on the ceiling who are absolutely cleaning up. No moths on you while you wash, and you can watch the show if you are into that sort of thing (I absolutely am).

RE: @mhoye@cosocial.ca

fish has now made it far enough into the collective consciousness that it can be used to punctuate a joke, which I quite like #fishshell

Edit: two jokes, and I will say the comparison to malware is justified - thanks to years of focus on making it easy to install and use!

Switching to SFTP works but involves so much more mucking around to get working in CI :-(

Does anyone know of an FTP server compatible with dput that I can try uploading something to? Something in our firewalling seems to be blocking my uploads to Launchpad but using tnftp is fine, so I'm trying to work out if dput/dput-ng are doing something funky. Passive vs extended passive mode is the only difference I can spot from a brief look with tcpdump.

@Blacksmithoz well, you and I don't need certified rope. I don't think that reporting was accurate at the time, and it's certainly not accurate now

@Blacksmithoz I don't think that's true. There was an update to the road regulations to require certified ropes in some situations, but it's not illegal to use rope completely - the changes just brought us in line with other states

It's very simple really. There are Drives and Sites. You can find your Sites in Teams where they are called Channels. Or Files in Channels. Sites are also in SharePoint. Drives are also in SharePoint but you can't access them that way except by accident. Libraries are Groups that are also Files (but Teams calls these Knowledge Bases). You can save things in Notebooks which are saved in a Drive but can also contain Drives or Sites (but not Teams, which are what Teams calls Teams and where Channels are stored, which SharePoint and OneDrive call Sites). Copilot is both a way to access Sites and Drives, and a way to produce lies. Nobody knows what 365 means. If all of this is overwhelming, consider speaking to your administrator about whether Microsoft Death is right for you.

I ended up talking to one of the kitchen staff about something else a few weeks later and asked about my dinner that night. "Well we don't do that, but she wouldn't take no for an answer, so it was just easier to make you up a plate to get her off the phone." Thanks to all my #nursing colleagues, whether or not they've yelled at someone until a junior doctor gets fed.

I was a surgical intern, and as so often happens had managed to get to 7 pm without lunch, dinner or a wee. I was feeling a bit sorry for myself knowing I was about to go to theatre without a chance to do any of those things and someone in agency scrubs who I hadn't met before overheard me. "What are you sighing about?" "Oh, I've been here since 7, I've got all these jobs, I have to go to theatre and I haven't had lunch or dinner yet." (Classic PGY1 malaise) "Where's your hospital meal?" "My what?" "The meal that you get for being here in the evening?" "I don't think that's a thing." "That's ridiculous. You've been here 12 hours, they need to feed you. I'm ringing the kitchen." "I—" and she was gone. Ten minutes later she walked in with a steaming hospital trolley tray and I scarfed down some roast lamb before scrubbing. She was gone by the time I got back and I never saw her again.

It's still May 12 somewhere, so for International Nurses Day, here's my angel story.

Various people have been saying for a long time that the "nurses are angels" line is pretty unhelpful - nurses are hard-working professionals who deserve to be paid well.

But I don't know this person's name, I don't know where they came from or where they went, I have never seen them again and they were frankly a bit terrifying - so definitely angel-like behaviour.
