@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems I don't think I've even noticed the extended validation stuff in browsers since they started defaulting to point out when sites were insecure rather than secure. Not a name I'm familiar with but I couldn't actually remember the name of a single CA right now. Haven't paid much attention since like 2015 or so though.

@hipsterelectron @SecureOwl there's a lot of qr and similar 1D and 2D codes used on delivery stuff that I could see why it would at least parse codes. I guess going to the url would be more information gathering and if information hoarding is the plan it kinda makes sense.

@drwho @ocean @autisticplushy the point of the original post is that GoDaddy is allegedly registering domains that people *consider* registering, then try to sell them as a premium domain. If GoDaddy doesnt register the domain then it doesn't cost them anything, but if they are actually registering them then they will.

@rachel@transitory.social @mttaggart@infosec.exchange I think this bugs me in the same way as politicians having stopped pretending to not be cartoonishly evil. Obviously it's terrible that is doing bad things, but it felt nicer to live in a world where they felt that they had to lie about it by claiming they weren't doing the bad thing.
