In her thesis, "Design and First Applications of Cleo, a Flexible Superdroplet Model for Warm-Cloud Physics on High-Performance Computers," Clara addresses the challenge of understanding warm tropical clouds. Using Cleo, Clara explored ways to overcome the limitations of traditional cloud microphysics models. ☁️

🌊 The North Atlantic significantly influences the weather in Europe. 🌬️❓How are the frequency, strength, and trajectories of storms in the #GermanBight going to change under #GlobalWarming? A study by Daniel Krieger (#MPIM) & Ralf Weisse (@hereon@helmholtz.social) reveals that most current climate models predict a decrease in #storm activity in the future. However, when storms do occur, they may be more severe than today. One possible explanation is a change in storm tracks, but this needs to be investigated further.

🌊 Measurements of #CO2 dissolved in the ocean surface are essential to quantify the marine #carbon sink, but data is scarce.
⛵️ #MPIM researcher Jacqueline Behncke et al. investigated if measurements taken on board sailing boats can fill in the blank spots. Last week, participants of the European project “Destination Earth” (DestinE), in which #MPIM_scientists are involved, gathered in #Hamburg. During the #hackathon, they worked on the implementation of the Climate #digitaltwin 🌍 🌍 they are developing. This is supposed to help users design #climate adaptation plans & mitigation measures by providing accurate digital information 📊 on climate-related phenomena & hazards.
