How will #ClimateChange affect the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ)?🌧️
🌡️ According to long-term projections, the #ITCZ will narrow due to #GlobalWarming. However, it has shown signs of expansion. #MPIM researchers Jiayu Zhang&Sarah Kang resolved this using a virtual experiment w/ the MPI-ESM #ClimateModel. They show that the ITCZ responds to increased CO2 by initial expansion&long-term contraction. The current widening could persist for several more decades.↔️
