I saw a recruiter on LinkedIn talking about how they were struggling to close roles because management had diverse, idiosyncratic requirements. One of the founders auto-rejected any candidate that didn't send a follow-up thank you email after an interview.
This shocked me. The kind of entitlement one has to have to *ask for help with doing tasks* and then expect to be thanked for the opportunity to just *talk* to a *subordinate* is incredible.
The recruiters response to me saying so was even worse, though. "It's a hyper-competitive job market" and "the right follow-up note can take you quite far".
The kind of gross entitlement one has to have to believe that, because there are more people in need of a job that you are extra deserving of having someone's nose planted between your cheeks is the kind of sociopathic red-flag that job seekers need to be on the lookout for. These are exploitative abusers, excited by the prospect that you don't have options. But you'll always have options, because recessions end.
Unfortunately, assholes like this rarely actually get what they deserve.
