I miss the internet were I would be able to click a link and not worry about data brokers in the USA harvesting every bit of data they can about me to manipulate my decisions in the future.

That isn't reality, so I use an "ad-blocker" like I wear bug spray for ticks.

It won't work all the time, but its the least I can do to prevent getting bitten.

Does anyone have to use Outlook for work? Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut to archive messages? I could swear that this used to be a feature, but it has been more than 5y since I used outlook daily.

I have gone through the help inside outlook and did a search, but I didn't find anything that would work with the latest version, on windows.

I'm working on a series for self-hosting from your parents to nerdy computer lab with debian running on a shoebox. Currently I have Synology for the "best" option for reliable plug and play option, and Unraid for the messy middle. What I'm looking for now is something that is set and forget, but not a paid OS.

I haven't used CasaOS or TrueNAS since they moved to Docker in ElectricEel.

Out of the two, which would YOU recommend. This needs to run on old hardware ideally.

My projects are getting out of control, and something that I didn't realize until this week is, Fastmail doesn't "really" have task integration. There is a single "default" task list with the default calendar and that's it.

I'm looking for something that I can self-host and has caldav support for my "magicmirror".

If I wanted to re-learn linear programming for the optimization of BESS sizing in diesel microgrid without renewable storage, where should I look?

I want to learn from scratch, but quickly.

Ideally something using python and open source solvers; and modelling that uses multiple threads is a plus.

@sean Streaming all the things all the time sucks. I remember when I could open an app on my phone and scroll through tweets without connection. I was in the middle of know where at the time and you had to put the phone on the balcony to get signal to update. Now we do “just-in-time” delivery and it sucks. One hiccup in the chain and everything slows down.

@TheBreadmonkey@beige.party In at lot of cases they remove the ads, but keep the tracking. So I just keep the blocking and don't pay. I block the ads to block the internet wide tracking of my activity, not to hurt the site. If they used their own ad servers (which they can, its 2005 tech), then the ads wouldn't be blocked. The BIG sites could easily do that, they already have ad sales people, might be harder for smaller operations.
