@realn2s @corbden Ours doesn't. I long ago got sick of having to buy a new toaster every 12-18 months, and it didn't matter whether the one being replaced was a bare bones $15 toaster, or a fancy-schmancy $50 toaster with a setting to floss the cat.
We've had the same toaster oven for.. 20ish? years. A bit bigger footprint, l but so, so worth the extra counter space.

I'm not blaming you for it now being too late for your unchanged advice to be useful. Or even for feeling "I *told* you so!!"-ness. I can't imagine not feeling the same way in your position.

It looks like they selected the neighborhoods where the first few childcare slots are going in based on child poverty levels and lack of childcare access. That seems exactly right to me. If there are some wealthy parents in that net, fine. Their kids' buddies won't be.

@idzie The shorelines of still bodies of water are good for spotting tadpoles now, and frogs later. Salamanders, too, but they're not as common, at least where I live. Vernal ponds, even deep puddles. If there's a part of the water that's shaded, and part that's sunny, look in the sunny area.
Note where you spot the tadpoles and come back later for frog spotting. Tadpoles will swim away from your shadow.
In the summer, there are usually a lot of frogs hiding at the edge of the water, with just a bit of their head out of the water. Sit or stand still and quiet, and look for a while.. you'll notice them without disturbing. If you're close to their habitat and hear them, slow down to look. It's fun finding them!
Turtles are easy; they spend a lot of time basking. Mostly on stuff sticking out of the water, but sometimes on the shore, or even a road.
If you're tempted to rescue a snapper, pick it up from the rear of its shell and carry it across the road *in the direction it was heading*. They won't be able to bite you, and won't head back as soon as you leave because they're where they wanted to be.

In August, 2025, Google announced they're locking down Android in September, 2026. A friend told me about it in November, but I wasn't able to find anything to confirm it until recently.
I'm guessing this is old news to devs, but maybe not to other consumers. If you're a consumer who chose Android because it was an open system, and want that to continue, these folks describe ways you can help.
