I think if I could afford to commission someone, I would be paying for their artistic skills, but expect final filters/tweaks and polish. I wouldn't "commission an artist" if I thought I could make it myself another way.
GenAI sold as artist's work is horrid. But does someone owning a fake Rolex watch care if it's fake, if it looks "just good enough"?

@the_gneech@meow.social I've wanted crafting gear as combat glamours almost all the time I've played FFXIV. Ali rocks an informal look and rarely wants to draw attention to herself. Wooden jewellery too has historically been only for crafter/gatherer jobs, though there have been some recent-ish items that aren't.
The use-any-appearance-for-any-job was the one big change I needed in FF14, and I'm really glad it's here.

We try not to take sides when there are clear moral imperatives out there... but remove a historical figure from our bank notes, and UK politicians do their nut in. 
The bank shouldn't have to justify a theme change after 50 years.
If you're going to burn in anger, do it in the direction of people and situations deserving of it.
It's not like we're lacking options right now.

It was lovely to get back in #FFXIV. And it hasn't given me a headache this time. Yay for a larger dose of meds.
I slowly did some crafting/gathering society quests, then just ran the intro story quest with the Felyn explorer. I played, rested and smiled.
I now need night time meds and sleep, so I don't tempt the headache back.

And XIVLauncher is working again. For some reason it wouldn't work when the game needed patching... when one of its advantages is quicker patching.
I did the update in the main launcher then switched back.
Going to try and get an hour or so in-game at last.

The whole point of a browser is to take you to the places and and least *try* to show you the things.
I'm on Linux using (right now, at least) LibreWolf, a derivative of.... Firefox a "supported" browser.

Decided to finally get back into #FFXIV for some random casual ambling and XIVLauncher decides it doesn't want to...well, launch.
I don't use mods so don't need XIVLauncher for that. It's convenience, faster patching and quicker login method. Now I have to wait for the official launcher to install some Mcrosft crap so it can work.
Oh look, it didn't work, so I can use the other perfectly functional launcher instead :otterfacepalm: Why add MS stuff if the other stuff works?

@Gazimoff@gamepad.club I've never played WoW, but level-cap content and endgame raids in FFXIV have always been "gated" by completing the main story. Though usually there's a story thread that only makes sense if you have finished the MSQ.
The same goes for other endgame content like special weapons.
Has that not been the case for WoW in the past?
That said, if I JUST do the MSQ and side-quests, usually I hit level cap in the final zone anyway in FFXIV.

Feeling about as small as my #Espeon in #PokemonGo.
I've managed to shower, do dishes and look into wood suppliers on my phone. And I'm shattered. I've been up less than 12hrs.
It's more the energy levels stopping my social media usage, because it takes social energy normally, but I'm so low, it's difficult.
About to try and sleep 3+ hours earlier than normal. Hopefully my meds can nudge me over the #fatigue/sleep line.

So my increased meds seem to be making me feel more like myself. Wifey says I've been "more present".
However, I'm shattered. Coupled to that yesterday there was a series of house jobs that needed doing so NJ and her friend could use her rooms, and a necessary trip to the doctors for blood tests, and today, I've just kinda flopped. I had to change the beds, but I've mostly been drawing.
I hope to get to the office to make blank wooden bookmarks, but that can only happen if energy increases...

Right, that's my only real post. I have blood tests tomorrow, so need to be waking up in 6½ hours so wifey can drive me to the doctors, then out for coffee.

Right, well, I didn't get into FFXIV, because I needed to do some extra work in relation to where my LOTRO content is archived, then fix a few other things.
It's 4.30am and I need to calm myself and my pain down, then sleep.
Going to be working on a basic wooden bookmark tomorrow. So drawing and fashioning with my hands. Should be more restful. Once I can wake the heck up anyway.

The one thing affecting me here on Mastodon is that I will soon change my @ handle and use my #writing pseudo instead.
But I want to design a new avatar first. I use this one on Bluesky, but it's an unseen character in my world, rather than based on me, which I think would be better.
As would making a coloured one.
I will still post about gaming as/when my health lets me play them. My change in focus does not mean I want to change servers.

Aside from the walk, and clearing down loads of dishes, prepping fruit and veg boxes for myself, I've achieved very little.
I had intended on publishing fiction for Patreon people, but that's best done at the PC, but I've not felt like moving in the last 4 hours, much less proofreading and editing.
If I skip house jobs tomorrow and go to the office before doing my walk, that should help move my writing forward.
The pain hasn't been as bad today (2nd day on higher dosage) but my energy is low.

While I did a fair amount of #PokemonGo, it wasn't raining and the wind wasn't in my face.
So I was able to look around me more this time. Plus, looking down at the floor, or a phone all the time isn't good for anyone's neck 😉.

What we "do" might be someone's identity, but it's not true for everyone. After all, when you switch jobs it lose one, you still need to know who you are.
But "being known" is a bit scary. So we talk about surface stuff.
IMHO anyway.
I don't use my real name here, but I am the real me. That matters more than "being known for doing something". Again, IMHO.

Just as I wasn't on here yesterday, a quick health update.
I had my phone consultation with the doctor today. We have an easy first "tweak" of one of my pain meds that almost doubles it. That's our first experiment.
BTW, that means getting through 250 tablets a month on /one/ of my meds.
The second thing is I will have blood tests next week, to investigate whether there's a cause for my daily energy crashes, when not a lot has changed in life.
I hate #fibromyalgia & all its evil little pals.

"What do you do?", "had a busy day?" And similar questions are those I dread. I rarely have to meet acquaintances now, thankfully.
But even the grocery drivers can ask that. It's friendly, it's conversational, it's shallow (in an appropriate way, not derogatory).
Even "how are you?" Is a greeting, not a question people want an honest answer to.
This writer thinks "what do you live for?" would be better.

But I couldn't get my camera working on it, despite every other app I had on Linux showing and displaying the camera.
Once I'd finished the group, I uninstalled Zoom and deleted my account 😄

I'm so slow... I've been trying to figure out how to filter #PokemonGo by more than one term. And, despite having done database programming, used advanced operators on search engines, joined strings... my "boxify" brain didn't consider the simple ampersand.
Sadly I can't figure a negative filter, but I'm glad to have patched my stupidity.
