hopefully using someone elses fedi server will stop my vps from running out of memory all the time

Programmer who is also interested in cybersecurity. Plays videogames quite a bit.

Tech nerd, generally prefers open-source software. Uses Fedora linux, only loads a windows install on a secondary SSD for a couple of applications that would not work on Linux.

Follow requests are on so I can vibe check you. Vibe checks were still performed before this change, however they were instead performed after you followed. Feel free to request a follow, but at least put something in your bio beforehand.

@EregLoch@mastodon.coffee @aral@mastodon.ar.al seems i need to make my argument explicit as youve clearly misunderstood We know that the client is not guaranteed to be trustworthy from the perspective of the server. We assume that the identity verification is done on the client only as stated. Per this assumption that means that the result of the verification is sent back as some form of yes/no (coupled with a name to be matched on the server, in case of success) or similar, without any other data that would allow the verification to be repeated on the server being sent back. As the client may be untrustworthy, it may manipulate the verification process or just send back modified data from a recorded successful verification with the attackers preferred values. Therefore, we can conclude that it is trivially possible to create fake accounts unless the assumption is false. Whether or not the server is trustworthy is irrelevant to this attack.

@nikitonsky they arent wearing any high-visibility vests (as required for safety), the space on the footplate was used to store miscellaneous gears so you cant actually put fuel in the firebox, the line isnt even built where the people are and if it was they shouldnt be in front of a locomotive unless the line has been blocked, the bloke sitting in the chair on top of the locomotive will be breathing smoke and steam for the entire journey if they actually went at a reasonable speed, and likely wouldnt fit in most loading gauges (and thus would get a very rude awakening if going under a bridge, into a tunnel, or into an area with OHLE). also electric traction is more efficient

hopefully using someone elses fedi server will stop my vps from running out of memory all the time Programmer who is also interested in cybersecurity.

@Stephanie @dysfun @th @ErinRose you could also try pulling the earth pin out of a spare rewireable plug, since holding another plug upside down only typically works on power strips

@th @ErinRose i know this is likely a shitpost but just in case: doing this will bend the prongs of the plug outwards over time. also you get crappy electrical contact i have actually seen this set up in a hotel in malaysia once but whoever did it pulled out whatever they stuck in the earth socket afterwards if you want to do this "properly" you can buy adapters for fairly cheap that clamp onto the europlug and present a uk plug. it is actually legal to sell equipment with these installed in the uk because they are as permanent as a rewireable plug (which are fairly common in the uk and stuff still gets sold with them fitted). of course, cutting the plug off and fitting a rewireable one is also an option.
