I used to treat myself each summer by reading one Dorothy Dunnett novel, then my self-control gave way and I gorged on all the remaining Lymond and Niccolo books in one big gulp. First edition of BC author Jane Rule’s “The Young in One Another’s Arms” (1977). Despite its suggestive title and its distinction as an early lesbian novel, with characters on the run from serving in the war in Vietnam, the cover is so so so boring.
