@muddle@infosec.exchange @sophieschmieg@infosec.exchange Ahh. Yes. There are B.A. that aren't Nicene, and there are other, B.A. and otherwise, supposedly Nicene sects that don't elucidate the esoteric nuances for the plebes. (the original meaning of esoterica!) [ If you like this kind of nuance, I recommend the card game Credo!, which is like the Nuckear War card game, but for Ecumenical Councils, hersey&creed, and one counts souls saved not burned. ]

@muddle@infosec.exchange @sophieschmieg@infosec.exchange There are a number of sects, some moderately large, that self-identify as Christian (and more or less so accepted by others) but are *not* Trinitarian, so the delightful joke is only _technically_ correct if restricted to Nicene Trinitarian faiths. OTOH, if faith is modeled in Group Theory, the unity of the Trinity could also be consistent if S3 is an Ideal of the larger Ring or Field of the model representation? So mod 2 isn't the unique representation, just one of ...

@gtsadmin @KevinFlynn Which is why we technically knowledgeable folk need to exercise what in International Relations is called 'soft power'. It feels wrong to need to because facts should be sufficient, dealing with squishy people goes against the tisms and is dismissed as 'politics', but that's how we get Budget and Schedule to get things done.

@copper_tunic @ZachWeinersmith The space race inspired *many* varieties of STEM degrees, not just Aerospace. 50+ years ago I was glued to coverage of Apollo even more than I am to Artemis now. The post Sputnik curriculum reform pushed me into STEM; i did pure math and very applied systems programming as a liberal arts degree, go figure. Would i have got there without Sputnik, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab? Maybe but uncertain. Could've been a Lawyer or Actuary or Historian.

@n1xnx @_thegeoff TBQF, this mission is going at a different phase of the moon (which is to say from lunar point of view different solar season) and going around _much_ higher, so *yes* they will see things Apollo didn't see. This mission _will_ see most of the poles which have only been seen with cameras. (Apollo landings occurred with moon around quarter phase to have a low sun providing contrast to the relief, both for pilot and to recognize waypoints when hiking.)

Long term we may need TDRS-Lunar units in orbit around Luna — polar orbit constellation, with relay all around? possibly several on highly elliptical orbits slantwise so that one is always seeing backside orbits and earth, and another could see low power transmitters on front side ground ?

@felix@wandering.shop so you weren't there when Sys V & SysVinit were new? You have longish history with Linux but not Bell Unix, Sys iii, old BSD, modern *bsd, commercial Unix? I'll acknowledge you've got a clue, but just the one. Some of us remember how BSD variants were incorporated back into SVR2, and the chaos that reined before that. I think we're in agreement about (un)desirability of the SystemD Universal Attack Surface, so I'm not sure why you feel the need to argue with me.

@felix@wandering.shop right. OTOH if one is picking next one's next distro for avoiding the SystemD universal attack-surface, one is opting into sysadmin differences from mainstream already. (Having started on PWB before BSD 3&4, and suffering thru multiple Gnu version churns, I alas expect flags to vary unexpectedly.) (We had a client last decade that used *BSD for prod nodes (security out of the box) and CENTOS for internal dev nodes & desktops. Their problems weren't sysadmin.)

@soatok Re lack of Fuzz puns, for me, fuzz testing was intrinsically at least Furry-adjacent, no additional pun needed? 😉 ( [Fuzzy, Furry, Plushie] being almost an [adjective, comparative, superlative] triple, in _inanimate_ toys at least? So that fuzzed is the degraded state from Furry, as well as from correct code? When your fursuit is merely fuzzy, it's time to get a new one? [Or change fabric softener? My experience as a parent with cleaning plushies might have benefited furry advice!] )

@clive@saturation.social WellActually(tm) the MacBook is running BSD Unix, that of which Linux was an imitation, so you're in the larger POSIX or *nix camp. I'm almost sufficiently annoyed with Linux today to install a noncommercial BSD on desktop. (I already prefer BSD for servers.) Of course, everyone using Android phones&tablets as their daily-driver in lieu of laptop/desktop are also Linux users, whether they know it or not. (Ditto Samaung TV with YouTube App.)
