But the manufacturers knew that if they could mass produce them economically that they would more than make up on volume. Cheap chips created their own markets.

Destroy them and you take away the capacity of the entire planet to create advanced chips. Something a techno-terrorist neoLuddite might aspire to do, but no partisan cause could benefit by it.

@evildrganymede There was an episode in which Sheridan is time-skipped to a future where he and Delenn are Londo's prisoners on Centauri Prime, but despite their predicament Delenn tells Sheridan that their son is "safe". I took that to mean that he escaped the controller.

@ptoothfish I've imagined a "Twilight Zone"-esque short about a man who every day wakes up in an alternate timeline where everything's almost the same except that all devices have completely different (often absurd) controls which he has to relearn every day. He ends up living in the Canadian wilderness in a log cabin he built himself.
