Briefly: I wonder how much longer you /guys/ and old men are going to keep up this persistent concern about security in software with respect to the use of artificial intelligence? (I can't speak to womens' views or any NB's views because they are a little different in how they think) My approach when writing about software is to take a broader view. I leave now with this: What if it didn't matter where the fvcking money came from to run a business or any business for that mat...

For your consideration -- I am a small time history buff and also a once-in-a-while student who's learned of history. I see this just for what it is now: Trump influencing the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is how the bad politicians do that thing they do (those so-called leaders who have no direction). They get in there and then compromise the lower level councils (which are more or less just commissions) so they can have more of a say with the outcomes. Not only has Trump sta...

" " U.S. and Iran pause fighting to give peace talks ‘space.’ Here’s where negotiations stand " " Inside Florida's $85M James Bond-inspired mansion built to 'make a billionaire's jaw drop' " What a rotten #capitalist system. China's communist government is now going after off-shore tax havens (those are the off-shore accounting systems virtually and physically located in the Cayman Islands and elsewhere). Scrutinizing the people who take part in this and who also live in the US will not occur until well after Trump's people are long, long gone. Their being in political office is part of the main reason that this financial pattern of behavior with them keeps getting classified as operating in strictly legal...

Let justice be done, because enough of the Heavens have fallen. I am referencing the innate piracy issues and the tricks or indecent code embedded in technology which fools all of us while we're online that makes up today's AI: https://apnews.com/article/ai-anthropic-copyright-settlement-claude-books-bartz-74b140444023898aeba8579b6e9f0d63

Someday, something needs to change not just with icann but with the global order in how domain names are recycled: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/epp-status-codes-2014-06-16-en#pendingDelete I am being pure and just direct: This is a bad way to manage anything, much less domain names. The fact that Ionos/1and1 can hold an expired domain name for a ransom tells us that men invented the Internet. This is stupid and I don't know how else to put that. I have to completely wait out Ion...

Does anyone smart and in charge yet fully get the fact or understands the working premise or basic idea that companies such as Microsoft always fold at the end of the day? They will not honor this commitment over any period of time. First they make promises and then they break them. Get a life, hackers. Ditch the job, you pricks working at Microsoft. We told you these changes were coming through years ago. https://games.slashdot.org/story/26/07/22/1659215/microsoft-announces-xbox-backward-co...

Trump is remote-controlled and everything that Trump touches dies. People across this small planet still have not figured out just how it is a bad leader started this idiotic war and, of course, wouldn't you know it: the US military went along with it without having reservations because their real mission aside from saving the world's productive oil fields for production of oil has not really been clear for many decades. Maybe we should turn this around on the US military since our top...

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/19/opinion/democrats-capitalism-socialism.html Do you know what centrists and opinionated people who toe the line especially don't like about people who try to think on their own? Especially here in #Oregon? It's when independents such as myself start criticizing old men such as E.J. Dionne at the New York Times who writes garbage such as this article. It's a whole lot of writing... about not much at all. This washed-up but authentic centrist Democra...

It's funny. I keep bringing this topic up because I'm 49 years old. I'm Gen X and I remember the thievery of ballots in Ohio during 2004 with Bush vs. Kerry, and of course everybody in America who is not a Republican and brain washed remembers Florida and Bush vs. Al Gore in 2000 when the Rehnquist court used its unethical and improper judicial reasoning to hand the election to George W. Bush on a mere technicality. The newspapers and pundits back then say that's not really what...

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/15/us/politics/todd-blanche-attorney-general-confirmation.html I'm not a lawyer, and even I know the DOJ is intermittently a cesspool for the Republican's pet projects; such as former White House counsel Alberto Gonzales' complete bullshit warrantless program through FISA which James Comey refused to sign off for while then-A.G. John Ashcroft was in the hospital recovering from some illness and both Gonzales and WH Chief of Staff Andrew Card needed so...

I needed to revert back to #FreeBSD 12.0. In the beginning, I tried using FreeBSD 15.0, manually mounting /mnt, and extracting base.txz from /usr/freebsd-dist. And... it just figures: according to Claude.ai starting with FreeBSD 15 the *.txz files were moved to being online only. Really, folks? Because from what I've experienced -- freebsd's installer does not work well with a lot of laptop and PC SSDs. The installer when one uses the manual part of their installation when typing gpart...

I bought a Lenovo from Leah at coreboot/Libreboot in the U.K. This machine has Libreboot installed in place of the machine’s UEFI/BIOS. Anybody know why this error comes up in #FreeBSD 15 and how to get around it without reinstalling the Lenovo laptop’s stock UEFI rom file back in place and ridding myself of Libreboot? Leah Rowe (@libreleah@mas.to) refuses to answer my emails about this. I talked with them on the phone. Leah is yet another rather pedantic coder maintaining Libreboot… /1

This is how literal #fascists and insurrectionists are constrained by the whole process, even when they hold the majority of seats in office and are getting their way.. The fascists (dweebs such as Mike Johnson) even say the quiet part out loud, here. In their latest move, they are passing a weakened version of Trump's draconian and illegal/unconstitutional SAVE Act. It's basically still the same outrageous bill. The version of the SAVE Act which Trump was pushing was more severe and it...

Political observation: this is one of the weirdest and meanest presidencies I have ever seen. Specifically this one term. During the "W" years with George W. Bush, VP Dick Cheney, Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Foreign Secretary Jack Straw the political theater was almost surreal: the Establishment neoconservatives figured out how to contort the functioning innards of the CIA so that the State Department and the US military's intel agencies lied America's way into war with Ira...

In software, we work with compliance measures and the businesses we work for mandate the assurance in how software runs — by programmers working on ways to ascertain the true quality of the software before it's finally delivered to the client(s). In the legal system, even the courts can be forced to comply with the rule of law. The idea of Trump is getting pretty damn old. He is an old racist and a dilettante style of billionaire: https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-birthright-citizen...

THANK YOU, JUSTICE KETANJI AND THE OTHER JUSTICES WHO HAVE A CONSCIENCE. Thanks to them, we will have law and order with every single state's mail-in ballots going forward.
