Political observation: this is one of the weirdest and meanest presidencies I have ever seen. Specifically this one term. During the "W" years with George W. Bush, VP Dick Cheney, Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Foreign Secretary Jack Straw the political theater was almost surreal: the Establishment neoconservatives figured out how to contort the functioning innards of the CIA so that the State Department and the US military's intel agencies lied America's way into war with Iraq over supposed weapons of mass distraction. Now we have an untethered idiot and billionaire rich from cryptocoin/bitcoins who bends his will to any extreme, malevolent political stripe that's available from the public at large: this is Donald J. Trump. When he won his second term (and US Congress should not have certified the 2024 election but they did — a lot of people do not care about how electronic voting machines really operate) we knew that it would take focus and sophistication to hold him to account. Hardly anybody in the trump admin has been held to account. It is extremely disappointing. Trump has also turned the legal system back a generation with the Supreme Court and judicial activist Leonard Leo's Federalist Society-themed bullshit rulings on ending regulation of abortion and curtailing immigration. The 2022 Dobbs decision was over a single interpretation presented by Justice Samuel Alito with regard to what the high court personally favors as their own Constitutional precept; in their fantasy world where everything is cast in either a wrong or a right light and honoring legal precedents is frowned upon.
