It is the same weight it was last week, the same question underneath it, the same exhaustion of carrying something that has no clean edge and no clear object and no timeline anyone gave you for how long this is supposed to last. You did not expect the first thing you read to be a white man describing what it finally felt like to understand the nature of the enemy he had been to fight for years. Not the enemy out there. The one that had been operating on him his whole life without his knowing. The pressure to conform. The hierarchy beaten in from a young age.

A woman who did not wait until the uncertainty was gone. Who described finding a reason large enough to move from. While the cost was still unresolved. While she could not yet see where it was going. That insistence, to evaluate the myth only on grand gestures of hate, is exactly what ensures you're always distracted from, and always provided an exit for, the things you do every day that cause harm.
