@blp Me too. AMD 486. 1994… 32 years ago? 😮 I began compiling my own kernels to “speed things up” after I switched to Linux in 1997. That machine finished its days running RedHat 6.2 as a firewall and email server for my LAN. A lightning strike finally killed it off (2008?).⚡️

@blp I also still remember that it was a considerable investment for the student that I was, to go and buy two more SIMMs doubling the machine's RAM from 4MB to 8MB.
