  I had my diabetic eye test this morning (which requires drops) and walked to the hospital down the canal, I hopped over the little brick bridge you can see from the old iron bridge in the pictures to the hospital and afterwards I hopped back over to grab vitamins and stuff from Bentley Bridge before walking back from the Cosmo end, crossing the iron bridge in the pictures and walking home.   This was posted in a LinkedIn group I'm apparently a member of. Apparently you're not meant to think losing millionaires is a good thing? These people aren't leaving the country their accountant is moving them abroad for several months a year to avoid tax because loopholes exist. Hotblack Desiato spent a year dead for tax purposes.

  I drove past the factory in question a couple of hours ago. It's still there, they are building a solar farm next door, I wonder if the company involved in that will put a sign up saying they aren't part of the military industrial complex on the fences :) Nice to see juries in this country are finally getting the message that the courts might not be telling them the entire truth and they still have the right to obey their conscience. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20yx13...

  This makes some giant leaps in thinking the AI reverse engineered the binaries rather than doing web searches on the filenames and their contents (as a lapsed remaker I know what games are well documented) and then looks at how any binary is vulnerable (it's not, well documented hand assembled Z80 code with published memory maps isn't gigs of compiler optimised code for modern CPUs) but it's an interesting read. I feel this ignores the 20% of the population who eats packed lunches everyday for 50 years and then survives on a state pension if they are lucky enough not to have picked up a work place injury or illness shortening their life.   The eldest has just had his insulin pump delivered. No idea what it would end up costing under Reform but under the NHS he just had three and a half grand of medical tech dropped off at the door for nothing. Oh and don't forget his insulin is free and he'll never, ever have to pay a prescription charge for any medication. It looks like an expensive vape. A very expensive vape. Fuck Reform.

  Just heard the news that Rob Grant (one half of the writing duo behind Red Dwarf) has passed. I listened to his radio show The Quanderhorn Xperimentations again just a couple of weeks ago. A great show in it's own right. I might see if I can dig out The Strangerers TV Show on some torrent site and give that another watch in memorium. RIP Rob - Smoke me a kipper.

  The weird thing about Starmer calling the Green Party of England and Wales 'Far-Left' is their policies were either Labour policy or already provided by Thatcher's extreme neo-lib Tory government in the 80s. They are left wing but in no way far or extreme left even with todays shifted window. All that silly anti-Corbyn rhetoric has broken their perception of their own roots and core beliefs.

  On the AI Bubble. The real reason users don't understand the environmental cost of LLMs and the like is the fact the fiscal cost is completely hidden from them. It doesn't cost pence per thousands of tokens as you are charged it costs multiple pounds. The tab is picked up by the VCs who are gambling billions on each product annually and expect 90% of them to fail. The small investors don't expect 90% of their investments to fail. This is DotCom 2 - electric boogaloo....
