@NorcalGma2@sfba.social Yogurt? I think there's also cottage cheese that contains active cultures.

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social It seems like kimchi might be a bit severe. I don't know if antibiotics have any effect in the stomach, but if I was recovering, I'd be a bit wary of eating stuff that could cause inflammation or whatever. There's loads of things that are labelled probiotic or prebiotic. I'd probably just try with simple stuff like natural yoghurt. You want to get the good gut flora reestablished and it'll probably take a variety of foods (in moderation; no need to overload on any one thing) and no doubt it'll take some time to regain a healthy balance. People say "trust your gut" for a reason. I'd suggest trying (once, anyway) natto. It's might be just as disgusting as kimchi, but it isn't spicy, so it seems like it'd be more digestible. Anyway, hope your husband does well in his recovery.

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social If fermented cabbage is not your thing, you could try real pickles - the lactofermented kind, not just in vinegar. Might work better with your usual foods? https://myfermentedfoods.com/how-make-lacto-fermented-pickles/

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social Virginia likes it, and sometimes makes it herself. But I'm with you and Summer's pal on this one.

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social Can't even hide that in pie or anything... I'm sure there is a probiotic in safely flavorless capsule form that will do the trick!
