My priority for this would be quick setup and portability. Buuuut I also don't want to compromise on sound. Is this even possible? I see all these 2x2" speaker situations, and I'm thinking, "is it even possible these sound good?"

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com I have this Vox 4Watt tube amp that I bought for about $299 Canadian around 10 years ago. I see on the Vox site that it’s not in production anymore but I see them for sale used quite a bit. Nice clean tone, really portable, only 2 knobs, tone and volume plus a knob that switches it to 1 or even 1/4 watt if you want it to break up and distort without being super loud. @alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com roland's battery-powered cube amps have a nice clean sound. If batteries aren't important, I like orange's small practice amps.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com I have a small Spark Mini from Positive Grid and its pretty nice. Four channels, tons of sounds and very small but loud if necessary. There is even a smaller Version of the Spark, but I have'nt tried it.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com My first thought is a small/tiny Fender combo or boutique version thereof. Slightly more watts if I want it clean, less if I'm going to push it. With what I currently own I'd bring my open back 112 + my Seymour Duncan Powerstage.

It’s overkill for your power needs and it has on-board effects that you can turn off, but it can certainly do what you need.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com You can’t go wrong with a small Orange amp. Avoid the tiny battery powered amps. They’re pretty much all awful at clean sounds at any reasonable SPL (except the Yamaha THR series). My personal favorite small amps that can get loud(ish) and sound great clean are the Quilters. They are pretty convincing tube amp emulators, but still all analog/solid state. It sounds to me like you might be happiest with an Aviator Cub. Or pair the Superblock with block dock.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com Does it need to be battery-powered? If not, the Rumble 25 might be nice. Very simple, inexpensive ,and good clean tone. I like the sound of the Orange amps, but I think they color your tone, and you mentioned you care about your clean tone.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com Lots of good suggestions here. My main concern would be clean staying clean, so good headroom would be a must; probably 10w minimal. I had a similar problem, which I solved by buying an Emerald Virtuo, which is a hybrid hollow-body guitar with a decent acoustic sound, but it’s got both piezo and a Fishman Fluence set on there. The standard model also has a connector for guitar-synths, but mine doesn’t. It’s quite ridiculous in all the right ways.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com My 3w Blackstar Fly does the job for me. Surprisingly good sound for a little plastic box, has an aux in and there's an optional expansion cabinet that I also like. I've heard good things about the Roland Cube line but don't have any direct experience with them.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com I do exactly this with Electric guitar and Strymon Iridium to small mixer (which also hosts my vocal) to two Bose L1 compact. It’s small and fast to setup. The fastest I have ever had. You can do the same without the mixer and with only one Bose, I just like to add a verb and control volume by hand. What I really like about the old Bose L1 Compact model is the size. There is two extensions, so you can move the treble-speaker up to spread the sound, the sub is the “stand”.

@alisynthesis@io.waxandleather.com you want a small amp to rest the electric guitar on while you play it so that it’s at about the same level as the acoustic guitar? Why not use guitar straps for that?
