@annika@xoxo.zone Are we talking gong fu style in a gaiwan? Because everything I have is only 30-60 sec infusions. But it would be longer if it was steeped "western styls" (essentially all steepings at once). I used to make pots of pu erh from inexpensive mini tuo cha cakes using a coffee maker....not sure how you'd estimate the steep time on that, it'd be the average time any part of the water takes to hit the tea, run through, then drain into the pot 🤔

@annika@xoxo.zone I set the kitchen timer for 4:44 and normally am pretty prompt getting the tea bags out. The box the tea comes in says steep for 1-2 minutes, so I guess I'm doing it wrong.

@annika@xoxo.zone In this house, we set *timers* 😁 Black tea, 4 minutes or more. Green tea or oolong, depends on the blend. One rock oolong we have suggest several successive steeps of about 7 seconds each.

@annika@xoxo.zone When I'm rushing to get out the door in the mornings, it is like 2 minutes. Other times, I put the bag in and walk away to do chores while I wait. An hour later I'll remember it and just leave the bag in while I drink it.
