Sometimes I wish I would get fired so that I could write a book about people&#39;s Passover Seders. (But I would never be able to find another engineering job again, given my hatred for AI, so I better not get fired.)

My daughter asks to rewatch some of the Artemis mission, the part with the firetruck crash and the wings and the girl talking to the statue. I think I may have confused her by watching part of Spaceballs last week.

Large states should have proportional representation in the House. Here&#39;s a proposal for a proportional system that preserves districts: * Voters vote for candidates running in their congressional district. * Statewide totals by party determine how many districts get which party. * Districts with the highest margin get priority for the vote-winner to become the representative. But in other districts it might be a different candidate to satisfy the statewide-determined count by party.

Back-of-the-envelope math seems to suggest Democrats benefited from gerrymandering more than Republicans in the 2024 election with a 3-seat advantage in the House to Ds compared to the nationwide totals of D and R votes at the House and Presidential election levels. Further gerrymandering this year looks like it will close the gap, with House seats divided closer to the nationwide vote totals by party. (Gerrymandering is bad, even if the overall numbers seem unaffected.)

If the losing political party got to draw the districts for the next election, we&#39;d see the fairest maps possible. The parties would quickly reach an agreement to avoid the chaos of complete map rewrites every election.
