@MamaLake@beige.party @futzle@old.mermaid.town a key feature of our 31 years married has featured being read aloud to while cooking meals, and when driving. It has been marvelous. I’ve read only a handful to the hundreds I’ve heard.

@MamaLake Now I am alone, I like to read books aloud to myself. I find it slows my reading pace so I’m not tempted to skip dull passages of text.

@MamaLake I've answered that we were encouraged to read alone, because we were. But we may have also read together - I just can't remember. We were certainly encouraged to read as much as possible though.

@MamaLake I was read to every day until I could read on my own, then taken to the library once a week and encouraged to borrow lots. Also given books as presents. But no literate person in the household was read to. #books #children

@MamaLake I was read to in the womb and as a teeny tiny child, but that happened less once I was reading independently. Which was fine by me tbh. My aunt says I used to read to her over the phone when I was in preschool, but I have zero memory of doing so.
