My beloved does NOT respond well to only pharmacist-only cough suppressant that is made with dextromethorphan and synthetic sweeteners. So I am engaging in cauldron-adjacent #HomeRemedies. To a scant 250mL of boiled water I have added a heaped teaspoon each of rubbed sage and thyme and a generous grind of black pepper. I simmered this for a few minutes and stirred in a good teaspoon of local honey. Next I strained a tin of sliced pineapple for the juice (80mL or so). I then sieved the herba...

I wish the creators and writers of #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds were not so enthralled with horror. I do not like it and it feels anathema to everything which all other Star Trek has represented.

Iggy & Tom : Blues, Burroughs and weirdness make an ideal marinade with Resonator and a hot bath. I'm super relaxed now. DM if you want hear this fine Radio 6 Iggy Confidential episode too.

@bazkie@beige.party @sknob@mamot.fr I’ve been thinking this morning (while it is 6.8°C *inside*) on writing music when one has little formal training. Something akin to “Structure by Ear”. I’ve listened all my nearly 6 decades to a vast amount of music but I still get hung up on the most basic concepts like Verse and Chorus. This feels like the #Grammar in #MusicTheory, and my comfort with grammar in my native language is not very significant. My response to the terms Verse and Chorus is very...

@FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com I like to practice sensory memory exercises. For example: retracing some favourite walks and recalling scent, sound, and weather. Another is handling different tactile objects in my mind: pottery with exciting feeling glaze, a pumpkin, etc.

Four consecutive, stupidly-long days of heavy and demanding #brewery labour means that I am #rewarding myself with a hot bath (it’s Winter where I am) loaded with Epsom Salt. There’s also 3.75g of medicated brownie and Ibuprofen helping me to unwind along with some of our Whale Played Red IPA. Friends, this week has been ridiculously challenging. I really wish I had time to work on my #BonkWave or #NotBonkWave #FSOBW track.

#Blender3D version 5.2 brings some excellent functionality to the #BlenderCompositor. I think I will be leaning into this and the #BlenderVideoEditor and move beyond #Kdenlive and any feelings that I should be using #DaVinciResolve (which looks amazing, but there's no free #H264 support on #linux). Here's the release notes video queued up to the compositor section: https://youtu.be/g4OXlrxqIx0?t=1286

#Blender3D folk who are into #particleFX #FluidSimulations and more; #Insydium have just released their #NeXusForBlender plugin. If you already own an Insydium product you can get the Blender addon at a discount. Otherwise it's £140.00. It also works under #Linux and supports a range of processors, but not ARM at this time. The manual just recently went live and you can check it out here: https://docs.insydium.ltd/blender/

More #BitwigStudio #Reverb explorations. My All-Pass reverb was almost adequate, but not quite as smooth as I wanted. I found another YT channel where there were some nice examples of how to populate the Wet Tank with all sorts of other stock devices (or 3rd party) to achieve some truly spectacular results. #AS-Reverberator is getting an overhaul. What? I never posted about this when I first made it over a year ago? Whoops. In short, the Wet Tank is packed with goodies - EQ, Pitch Shift for...

Friends of #BonkWave and #NotBonkWave and #BitwigStudio #ElectronicMusic producers who use #LinuxAudio, you might want to have a play with my AS All-Pass Reverb preset. I made it in Bitwig Studio v4.0 so it should work in just about any version after that. You can check it out on my website over at: https://www.ambientspace.com/technical-notes/bitwig-notes/as-all-pass-reverb

@bazkie@beige.party I’d like to share another source of pleasant smells: soaps. I have been enjoying the patchouli (with a fair amount of sandalwood in there) scent of these #Ayurvedic soaps from #Chandrika for ages. I’m all for peppermint, and sometimes rose or English leather, but I keep coming back to these. I think you can find them online. Depending on use, a bar can last about a month.

I’ve been exploring the All-Pass Reverb techniques described by @polarity@social.bitwig.community. I’ve opted to lean into a 5x5 setup. All values are pulled from a list of Primes from #Wikipedia. There are 5 parallel rows of 5 nodes in series and the results are rather satisfying. My AS AP 5x5 Reverb is presently nested into the Fog stage of my latest #SealEggs #NauticalDelay preset.

This last 10 minute boil addition was huge! 9.5kg of hops with some extra yeast nutrient and kettle finings. Kettle before and after. It was a very feisty cauldron. Terrifying, actually. To tame it, I hose down the exterior dome of the kettle and this is usually enough to settle things. I found myself backing away and being quite enthusiastic with the hose. #KereruWhalePlayed
