@patrickhadfield Absolutely appalling and crazy. Reform go from worse to worse to complete and utter racist fascism. I think they are actually becoming worse than the BNP that was around when I was a teenager. Why the media are so fond of them, I just don’t get (or is it just follow the money).

@patrickhadfield if reform do get in and do this, at least it will be easier to form solidarity blocks to defend and liberate the migrants in green voting areas

@patrickhadfield Such a deranged idea/system/plan. What worries me is that the Irish copy a lot that the UK does. (Thank goodness we're in the EU and have a couple of good rules)

@patrickhadfield Oh, so they're building concentration camps. Who do they think they are? Americans?

@patrickhadfield Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman were pretty good in this movie.

@patrickhadfield It’s so self telling that they think that it would be a punishment to have to deal with immigrants. Like if immigration is something bad. They cannot fathom that some people might not have any problems with immigrants at all.

@patrickhadfield It's also stupid. Green Councils will say no.

Sounds like Nigel is patterning after 47, meaning they will kidnap any non-white person off the street and deport them to a place they may never have been. Learn from US.

@patrickhadfield Mass Immigration Detention facilities have been a thing across all shades of Australian government for decades. This was amplified to extreme levels by governments led by Prime Minister John Howard. First with facilities in far-flung arid areas. Later, to circumvent constitutional concerns, they made deals with neighboring islands to house immigrants, even refugees, indefinitely. The US, the UK, and Australia have two important things in common. A vestigal colonial ethos and a rabidly right wing media empire called News Corporation, cheering on the cruelty.

@patrickhadfield Reminiscent of the Tory slogan from the 60s: “If you want a n****r for a neighbour, vote Labour” How do these people live with themselves?

@patrickhadfield That's convinced me to vote Green this week. Farage is a nasty little Trump cos-player - he should move to the USA if he loves it that much.

@patrickhadfield "It won't be 'prison', no! It'll be more like.. like a camp! Just a place to.. well, concentrate people we're concerned about, that's all, until we decide what to do with them. And they won't just be sitting around. We'll give them work to do, to keep them busy. Maybe make stuff for Israel, who knows."

@patrickhadfield It's touching, the way they seem to think they'll automatically get planning permission for their Temu gulags...

@patrickhadfield Although it is likely to appeal to their core vote (and what does that say about a considerable number of British people?), maybe they're also just putting out something shocking to move the media on from Farage's £5 million undeclared gift?

@LordWoolamaloo@mastodon.scot 2026-05-05 10:23
@patrickhadfield It's not just vile, it is also an implied threat, and they should be held to account for it being such. Basically saying hey, nice area you have, liberal person, be a shame if we put a detention camp in it, maybe you should vote for us. Electoral commission should be treating is a bullying threat. They won't though. And if they did, the Mosley knock off would claim his free speech was being stifled, of course
